Indio CHP Offers Free Teen Driving Class

The Indio California Highway Patrol (CHP) is offering a free teen driving class next week. The Start Smart class will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 6 p.m. at the CHP Indio Office on Varner Road. The goal of the class is to prepare teen drivers for situations they will encounter while behind the wheel.

The free teen driving class will focus on tips for avoiding collisions, safe driving habits, consequences of poor driving choices, and legal and civil liabilities pertaining to teen drivers and their parents. Participants will also hear testimonies of people who have been negatively impacted by auto accidents involving teens.

Parents must attend the Start Smart class with their teens. Teens who attend will be given a certification of completion, which might help them get a discount from their auto insurance company.
