2 Big Rigs Collide in 5-Vehicle Crash on I-10

Two big rigs collided on eastbound I-10 near Jefferson Street Tuesday afternoon, causing traffic delays. The crash was prompted by a stalled pickup truck on the highway, which caused vehicles to swerve around it. The obstacle caused a five-vehicle pileup, including two big rigs and a bus.

Fortunately no one was injured in the crash, which happened around 3:45 p.m. However, the two big rigs that collided were stuck together and had to be pulled apart for the scene to be cleared. Traffic on eastbound I-10 was backed up to Washington Street and drivers experienced delays for several hours. California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SIG ALERT for the accident and drivers were advised to avoid eastbound I-10 and use Varner Road as an alternative. All eastbound I-10 lanes reopened just after 6 p.m.

“It’s amazing that no one was hurt in a crash involving two big rigs, especially considering large trucks and tractor trailers account for 77,000 crashes each year that result in injury, ” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
