Two people were hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 86 near Oasis Monday afternoon. The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. near Avenue 72. According to Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Department, one person was ejected from the SUV during the crash. The victim was flown to a local hospital with major injuries.

The vehicle’s other occupant was not ejected from the vehicle. That person was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Police have not said whether the vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts when the single-vehicle crash occurred. Wearing a seat belt is the best way to prevent being thrown from a vehicle during a collision. Vehicle occupants who do not wear a seat belt are 30 times more likely to be ejected in the event of a crash.

“We hope the two victims make a full recovery. Wearing a seat belt should be second nature to all of us as soon as we get into a vehicle,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
