Big Rig Versus Motor Home Crash Prompts Sig Alert

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has issued a Sig Alert for a big rig versus motor home crash today. The accident occurred on eastbound I-10 just west of Monterey Avenue around 8:40 a.m. One of the vehicles blocked the No. 3 lane, prompting the Sig Alert.

The big rig involved in the crash was hauling lumber, but it does not appear that any spilled onto the roadway. Police have not yet stated the cause of the big rig versus motor home crash.

Eastbound traffic was backed up until Bob Hope Drive for hours following the crash. No injuries have been reported.

I-10 Sees Increase in Big Rig Traffic

The number of big rigs traveling I-10 has increased by 37% since 2013. The highway serves as a major thoroughfare for distribution centers throughout the Inland Empire, lending itself to significant big rig traffic. The most common violation by big rig drivers on I-10 is speeding, followed by failure to use the designated right lane.

“We’re glad no one suffered injuries in the collision. Drivers must be extra cautious when driving near these massive vehicles. Passenger vehicles simply do not stand a chance against these large trucks,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
