Firefighters rescued a man trapped in his vehicle after an off-road crash in Victorville Wednesday Morning. Authorities say a man driving a blue 2004 Ford Taurus drove off the roadway and landed in a ditch near El Evado Road and Hopland Street.

The 66-year-old was heading north onto Hopland Street when he oversteered and veered into the south shoulder. He then crashed through a fence and collided with a concrete wall. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for hip pain. No one else was injured in the off-road crash.

The reason for the driver oversteering the vehicle has not been reported, but oversteering can happen for a number of reasons. If you are distracted and arrive at your turn more quickly than expected, you might turn too sharply and cause the car to oversteer. Obstacles in the road might also cause you to oversteer to try to avoid a collision. The key to staying safe behind the wheel is fully concentrating on the task of driving at all times.

“We’re glad the driver is okay and hope this accident reminds other drivers how dangerous it is to lose control of your vehicle,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
