Palm Springs Officials Investigate Dangerous Intersection

Palm Springs officials are investigating options for improving one of the most dangerous intersections in the Coachella Valley. The intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Crossley Road has been the site of numerous accidents over the years, and officials are looking into whether modifying the turn signals might help to reduce accidents.

The investigation comes on the heels of a petition launched by Cathedral City resident Carolina De La Torre, who works near the intersection and has witnessed several collisions there. As of Sunday, the petition had received 548 signatures from residents concerned about the intersection.

The accidents at the intersection usually occur when eastbound or westbound vehicles collide with vehicles on Dinah Shore that are turning left onto Crossley Road. The intersection has a turn arrow, but it is only activated if three or four drivers are waiting to turn.

“If an intersection is the site of frequent accidents, it should certainly be examined for safety. We commend De La Torre and the other petitioners for taking this matter seriously,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
