Semitrailer Crash Kills Upland Woman

An Upland woman died in a semitrailer crash on Highway 395 in Victorville on Friday, December 9. The fatal crash occurred just north of Bear Valley Road around 11:30 a.m. According to officials, the driver of a Toyota Sequoia was traveling north on Highway 395 when she began swerving. She then lost control and turned in front of a southbound semitrailer. The truck struck the front passenger side of the Sequoia.

The passenger side of the Sequoia collapsed into the driver side, trapping 52-year-old Diane Brayford. Firefighters extricated Brayford from her vehicle. She was then taken to Desert Valley Hospital with major injuries. Later, she was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Semitrailer Crash Under Investigation

Police shut down Highway 395 in both directions until midnight for the investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. If you have information about the incident, please contact the Victorville Sheriff’s Station at (760) 241-2911.

Victor Valley Granted Funds for Safe Driving Awareness

In light of the high number of accidents resulting in injuries and deaths in the Victor Valley, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) has allocated $300,000 for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The grant will fund enforcements and public awareness efforts, including DUI patrols, educational presentations, and enforcements of pedestrian safety, motorcycle safety, seat belts and distracted driving.

“We hope this much-needed grant will help reduce the number of deadly crashes occurring in the High Desert,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
