Woman Loses Dog After Attack

A woman was injured and her dog was killed in a vicious dog attack last week. The attack occurred on a roadside in San Diego last Wednesday.

Investigators say the two mixed-breed pit bulls likely escaped from the backyard of a home in a nearby neighborhood. Witnesses say the dogs then snatched the chihuahua from its owner’s arms. The woman tried to fight the dogs off, but she could not get them to let go of her pet. The dog suffered fatal injuries, and the woman was taken to a hospital for injuries to her hands.

Dogs Being Held Under Quarantine

The mixed-breed pit bulls are being held for a 10-day quarantine. They could be held longer, depending on what Animal Service investigators find. If the dogs have been involved in other incidents, they could be declared a public nuisance and possibly euthanized. Authorities say the owner of the pit bulls surrendered the dogs to Animal Services after the vicious dog attack.

“What happened to this woman is deeply troubling and totally unnecessary. These dogs should have never been out on the street unrestrained,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
