Body Found on Palm Springs Hiking Trail

Police found a body on a Palm Springs hiking trail last Thursday. The female body was found on the Lykken hiking trail off Mesquite Avenue, about five minutes up the trailhead. The Palm Springs Police search and rescue team responded to the scene just after 7 p.m.

Police have not yet revealed the cause of death. However, they do not suspect criminal activity at this time. The victim was a woman in her late 50s, but her identity has not been released. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office is investigating.

How Can you Safely Hike a Palm Springs Hiking Trail?

In light of several recent hiking incidents, the Riverside County sheriff’s search and rescue team offered several tips for safe hiking, including:

  • Pack plenty of water with you
  • Bring a map
  • Let other people know where you are hiking, so they know where to look if you go missing
  • Stay on the trail
  • Turn your phone off while you are hiking to save battery in case of an incident
  • Don’t hike alone

“If you decide to hike this summer, please make sure you are prepared for the unexpected, and always let several people know where you will be hiking,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
