A man was fatally struck on southbound I-15 near Cajon Pass Sunday afternoon. A driver exited his vehicle after being involved in a collision around 2:34 p.m. Another driver was traveling down I-15 in a Ford F-350 when he saw the man in the roadway. The driver tried to swerve out of the way but was unable to avoid the crash.

The truck hit the man, then struck one of the vehicles that was involved in the first crash. Emergency personnel determined the man in the roadway had been fatally struck. His identity has not been released.

The F-350 driver has been identified as Terry Blackwell. The weather at the time of the incident included fog and light rain, but authorities have not said whether that contributed to the collision. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the crash.

“If you are involved in a collision and you cannot pull your car off the roadway, do not get out of your vehicle until police arrive,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
