Police are investigating a fatal one-vehicle rollover crash that occurred Sunday morning in Lucerne Valley. The accident happened on Highway 247 east of Lafon Road around 6:40 a.m. The driver, 56-year-old David Hoffman of Landers, died in the crash.

According to the initial investigation, Hoffman was driving a Dodge vehicle east on Highway 247 when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the westbound lane. The vehicle then left the roadway and abruptly turned back onto it. Hoffman lost control and struck a steel guard pipe off the dirt shoulder. The vehicle then flipped over several times.
