Fleeing Motorcyclist Arrested in Apple Valley

Police arrested a fleeing motorcyclist after he crashed in an Apple Valley parking lot Tuesday night. Apple Valley Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull the motorcyclist over around 9 p.m., after witnessing him driving recklessly. They attempted the traffic stop near Highway 18 and Central Road. However, the 32-year-old suspect, Thomas Barnett, failed to yield.

The fleeing motorcyclist fled from police at speeds reaching 75 mph. Police say he continued to drive erratically, blowing through stop signs. Officers followed him for about 10 minutes before he crashed in a parking lot on Valley Drive.

Barnett then attempted to hide from the pursuing officers. However, they quickly found him and arrested him. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken into custody. Fortunately, no one else appears to have been hurt in the incident.

“Motorists who choose to run from the police, instead of complying with law enforcement, endanger not only themselves but everyone else on the road. There is no excuse for failing to yield to law enforcement,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
