Ford’s Two Recalls will Affect 570,000 Vehicles

Ford has issued two recalls for separate issues affecting more than 570,000 vehicles. The first recall addresses a defect that can cause engine fires. This recall affects 360,000 vehicles in North America and Europe. In North America, the vehicles included in the recall are the 2014 Escape, 2014-2015 Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Fusion, and 2013-2015 Transit Connect van.

The engine fire risk occurs when a lack of coolant circulation causes the engine to overheat. This can cause the cylinder head to crack, allowing pressurized oil to leak and potentially cause an engine fire. Ford has received 29 reports of this issue occurring in U.S. and Canada. However, no injuries have been reported.

Ford has recalled another 211,000 vehicles for faulty door latches. The vehicles included are the 2015 Fiesta, and the 2014 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. This recall comes on the heels of multiple investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Last year, Ford recalled more than 2.3 million vehicles for the same issue. The vehicles in the latest recall have a pawl in the door latch that can break. This issue can cause the doors to open while the car is in motion, or stop the doors from opening.

Ford will reach out to owners of affected vehicles with details about the two recalls. To see if you vehicle has been recalled, visit Ford’s website.

“These are both serious safety issues that vehicle owners need to be aware of. Be sure to take you vehicle in for repair as soon as you receive your recall notice,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
