Several Labor Day crashes backed up traffic on I-15 Monday. A crash involving a motorcycle and a truck occurred south of Highway 138 around 1 p.m. The motorcyclist was injured in the crash and taken to a local trauma center. Traffic was slowed from the crash site to Main Street for several hours.

A deadly crash occurred on Highway 138 a mile west of I-15 around 1:30 p.m. The crash involved multiple vehicles, and authorities issued a Sig Alert at 1:44 p.m. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were injured in the accident. Police closed off Highway 138 from Lone Pine Road to the Shell Gas Station off of I-15.

Another multi-vehicle crash occurred on southbound I-15 north of Cima Road around 8:30 a.m. No one appears to have been injured in that crash, but traffic was backed up for several miles in Mountain Pass into the afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), 30 people died in Labor Day weekend crashes, and 2,017 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

“Holiday weekends always show a higher rate of accidents, injuries and fatalities. That’s why it’s so important to drive with extreme caution and zero distractions, especially during these high-traffic times,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
