Police Identify Victim of Fatal Crash in Phelan

Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash in Phelan Sunday morning. Clark Faulk, a 61-year-old from Phelan, died after he crashed his Ford F-150 into a power pole. Officers responded to the scene at Baldy Mesa Road and Sunset Road around 10:10 a.m. on Sunday.

Faulk was apparently heading northbound on Baldy Mesa north of Sunset Road when he veered west across the lanes and into a power pole. He died from his injuries at the scene. It is unclear why Faulk veered off the road. The fatal crash is still under investigation.

Hitting a power pole adds a dangerous, potentially deadly factor to an auto accident. If you are in an accident involving an electricity pole, here are 5 things to remember:

  1. Even though you hit the power line, it might still have a live electrical current. The safest thing to do is stay in your vehicle. If you get out, there’s a greater chance you could be electrocuted.
  2. Call 911 for help right away.
  3. Call the electric company to have them cut the power.
  4. Warn others to stay away from the scene until the electric company cuts the power.
  5. If your vehicle is on fire and you must exit, you need to jump from the vehicle with your feet together and hop away from the scene. Don’t touch the car and the ground at the same time. This will reduce your chance of being electrocuted.

“We’re sorry to hear about this fatal accident and we hope authorities are able to figure out the cause of this tragedy,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
