A woman was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run in Victorville early Friday morning. A crash involving a pedestrian was reported around 1:05 a.m. at the intersection of D and Sixth Streets. When emergency responders arrived, they found 50-year-old Dianna Galey dead at the scene.

Police say a light-colored Ford Mustang between years 1994 and 1998 hit the woman and the driver fled the scene. The Mustang is missing a passenger-side headlight, rearview mirror and a windshield wiper. Police are still searching for the suspect.

D Street was closed between Fourth and Seventh until 9 a.m. Friday while police investigated the pedestrian hit-and-run incident.

According to 2011 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one in five pedestrian fatalities is a hit-and-run. With 4,432 pedestrian fatalities in 2011, that’s roughly 842 pedestrians killed in a hit-and-run in one year.

“Hit-and-run crashes are a devastating problem in our community. If you have any information about this hit-and-run suspect, please contact the police immediately,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
