A Thermal man was killed in a pedestrian accident Thursday evening. The crash happened at 5:21 p.m. on the 68000 block of Harrison Street. The 54-year-old pedestrian died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says the driver involved in the pedestrian accident stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. A witness to the accident who stopped their vehicle in the road was rear-ended shortly after the pedestrian crash. One person involved in the subsequent crash was taken to the hospital.

Several crushed aluminum cans were found in the roadway, but it is unclear whether they were related to the incident. Harrison Street was closed for the investigation until 8:45 p.m. No one has been taken into custody, and the incident remains under CHP investigation.

“Motorists need to do their part in making roads safe for pedestrians so these deadly accidents stop happening,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
