VW and Audi Sued for Vehicles’ Hidden Engine Defect
motion

Volkswagen and Audi were recently hit with a class-action suit claiming the companies suppressed information about a hidden engine defect affecting their vehicles. The lawsuit alleges that the 2.0L TSI engines have defective timing chain tensioners that fail prematurely.

The suit also says VW and Audi purposely concealed information about the engine defect. It also claims the companies refused to recall the vehicles or cover the repair costs related to the defect.

The chain tensioning system can fail at any time, according to the lawsuit. This can cause severe engine damage, a costly repair for the owner. Because the defect can cause the engine to lose power, it also poses a safety hazard to the driver. Losing engine power could potentially inhibit the driver’s ability to accelerate, steer or brake.

The engine defect allegedly affects a wide range of VW and Audi models manufactured between 2008 and 2013.

“A defect that leads to engine failure is a serious safety risk to drivers. We hope this suit is successful in causing the manufacturers to fix the issue,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
