A 19-year-old man from Coachella Valley died Monday, after being seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-10 in Palm Springs. The fatal accident occurred on eastbound I-10 west of Palm Drive, just after 5 a.m. Authorities have identified the deceased victim as Raymond Vasquez.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Vasquez was driving an Acura CL on the freeway when he collided with a motorcycle. The crash impact sent the Acura crashing into the center divider guardrailA 19-year-old man from Coachella Valley died Monday in a multi-vehicle crash on I-10. It was then struck by two vehicles, including a semi-truck. The motorcyclist, 34-year-old Aaron Coates of Yucca Valley, was also thrown from his bike in the crash.
Vasquez and Coates were both taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, along with two other passengers. Vasquez passed away hours later at the hospital. The other victims suffered serious injuries, and their current condition is unknown. The CHP is still investigating the cause of the fatal multi-vehicle accident, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
