20-Year-Old Hesperia Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle

A pedestrian was killed early Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Hesperia. The fatal pedestrian collision occurred around 2:05 a.m. on Ranchero Road near Mesa Linda Street.

Police say 20-year-old Kris King was crossing Ranchero Road when he was struck by a westbound Toyota minivan. First responders attempted CPR, but King was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:28 p.m.

A fatal accident that took the lives of two drivers occurred on the same road one day prior. Both crashes are under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Police have not said whether the pedestrian was using a crosswalk when he was struck. The majority of pedestrian crashes happen at places other than intersection, with 74% occurring somewhere without traffic control. The best way to reduce your risk of being struck by a vehicle is to follow traffic laws.

“Finding a crosswalk to cross the street might take a little longer, but it is much safer than crossing somewhere where there is no traffic control,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
