A 4-year-old boy was hurt in a two-car crash in Victorville Wednesday. The crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. A Lexus SUV was heading north on Seventh Street when the driver ran a red light at the intersection of Forest Avenue. The SUV struck a Honda Civic in the intersection. The Honda’s passenger, a 4-year-old boy, was ejected during the crash.
The boy was taken from the scene by ambulance, then airlifted to a trauma center for unknown injuries. Firefighters had to free the Honda driver, the boy’s mother, using the jaws of life. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
Fortunately, a Sheriff’s K-9 patrol officer was in the area at the time of the crash. The officer stopped to help the victims until emergency responders arrived.
Traffic was blocked in all directions during the investigation. It is unknown whether the 4-year-old was restrained at the time of the two-car crash.
“We’re praying for a quick recovery for the little boy. A 4-year-old should never be allowed to sit up front in a vehicle. He should have been properly restrained in a car seat in the back seat of the car,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
