A bus crash caused serious traffic delays in Palm Springs Thursday morning. A SunLine Transit Agency bus collided with a Toyota Corolla on Gene Autry Trail near Desert Center Drive around 10 a.m. The Corolla was traveling north on Gene Autry at high speeds when it struck the meridian, and then entered the southbound lane and sideswiped the bus.
The SunLine bus sustained some damage, but the driver and two passengers on board were uninjured. Southbound Gene Autry was shut down at Tamarisk Road while police cleared the scene, causing delays for about an hour. The Corolla driver has not been charged, and police do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the bus crash.
Fortunately no one was seriously injured in this crash, but oftentimes that isn’t the case. If you are injured in a bus accident, here are 6 things to do right away:
- No matter the extent of the injury, seek immediate medical attention. If anyone else involved in the accident was injured, make sure they also receive prompt medical attention.
- Call the police to report the accident.
- Get the contact information of others on the bus, especially anyone who was injured in the crash.
- If there were any witnesses to the crash, ask them to give a statement to the police and try to get their contact information.
- Take photos of the scene and your injuries.
- Contact an experienced personal injury attorney to help you navigate the legal process.
