A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a semi in Palm Springs early Friday morning. The fatal crash happened on East Ramon Road west of Paseo Dorotea around 4:48 a.m. According to police, the bicyclist was attempting to cross eastbound Ramon Road when he was struck by the semi.
The 49-year-old bicyclist died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The semi truck driver remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was not hurt in the crash.
Police are still investigating the crash, but they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. East Ramon Road was closed in both directions from Calle Santa Cruz to South Gene Autry Trail until 3:05 p.m.
