A bicyclist who was seriously injured on Highway 395 last week died from his injuries two days later. Authorities say 29-year-old Charles Staples of Victorville was struck at the intersection of Highway 395 and Dos Palmas Tuesday morning. He was found unconscious on the shoulder around 10:10 a.m. Police say he was thrown 100 feet during the crash.
Staples suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. He died from his injuries on Thursday. A family member posted on Facebook that Staples requested his organs be donated.
The driver that struck the bicyclist was hospitalized for minor injuries. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is still investigating the crash.
“We’re so sorry to hear the bicyclist didn’t make it. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
