Has Your GM Pickup Truck Been Recalled?

More than 1 million General Motors pickup trucks have been recalled due to a seat belt defect. According to GM, a flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the vehicle can wear out over time and eventually snap, which would make the seat belt less effective in an accident.

The company discovered the defect when inspecting warrantee data. Although there have been no reports of injuries related to this issue, they are voluntarily recalling the General Motors pickup trucks as a precaution. The recall includes 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 pickups and Chevrolet Silverados. Along with recalling nearly 900,000 vehicles in the U.S., GM will stop the sale of roughly 3,000 trucks on dealer lots.

Wondering if your vehicle has been recalled? You can look your vehicle up by VIN number to see if it is included in any recalls at the NHTSA website.

“Seat belts save thousands of lives each year, so we’re glad GM is taking the necessary steps to ensure their seat belts work properly,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
