Each year, a shockingly high number of motorcycle riders are injured or killed in accidents that could easily have been avoided. Although many of the most important safety tips are actually relatively straightforward and obvious, many people take them for granted. In crucial moments, the seven safety tips included below could save your life.
Staying Safe on the Road
If you’re riding at night, here are 7 tips to stay safe on the road:
- Wear something bright that reflects light and add reflective decals to your motorcycle and/or helmet.
- Ensure that your front and rear lighting is bright. If your lights are dim, you can replace them with bright LED bulbs.
- Adjust your headlights so you can see at least 100 yards ahead.
- For extra light, add dual running headlights to the motorcycle.
- Choose a rearview mirror that provides a complete view of traffic behind you.
- Make sure your windshield is clear, not tinted.
- Only ride as fast as you can see. This technique will give you enough room to stop completely or quickly maneuver out of the way if necessary.
“Motorcycle accidents are more likely to occur at night, so it’s crucial to take the proper steps to ensure your safety if you’re riding at night,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
