A motorcyclist and a truck driver suffered serious injuries in a semitrailer crash in Hesperia Thursday. The motorcyclist, a 44-year-old woman from Long Beach, was riding north on Arrowhead Lake Road when she collided with a semitrailer around 11 a.m. The semi was traveling south and made a turn on a red turn arrow in front of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was pinned under the trailer when deputies arrived. She was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for her injuries. The truck driver also sustained major injuries. Traffic was diverted to Rock Springs Road while the scene was cleared until about 5 p.m. The semitrailer crash is still under investigation.
Running red lights continues to be a significant problem. According to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 22% of crashes were caused by red light runners.
“We’re wishing both victims a speedy recovery from their injuries,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
