Woman Severely Injured in Big Rig Collision

A big rig collision Sunday resulted in a woman suffering major injuries. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on southbound Indian Canyon Drive between I-10 and 19th Avenue. According to the Palm Springs Fire Department, a woman driving a Jeep SUV was traveling south when she crashed into the big rig’s trailer.

The front of the Jeep wedged underneath the trailer, trapping the woman. Firefighters first stabilized the trailer, then removed the Jeep’s roof to extricate the driver. Paramedics rushed the severely injured woman to Desert Regional Medical Center.

Big Rig was Parked When Crash Occurred

The semi truck was parked on the side of Indian Canyon Drive when the crash occurred. The driver, a Desert Hot Springs resident, parked it there overnight. He was not in the truck when it was rear-ended.

The big rig collision shut down Indian Canyon from 19th Avenue to I-10 until about 12:30 p.m. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

“We hope the injured driver recovers from this horrible crash. We urge drivers to devote their full attention to the road so we can see an end to these avoidable collisions,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
