One person is dead after an Apple Valley pedestrian crash Monday afternoon. The fatal accident occurred around 12 p.m. on Jess Ranch Parkway and Town Center Drive. The victim, 65-year-old Kirpal Singh Dhaliwa, was suffering from a head injury in the roadway when deputies arrived.
Driver in Apple Valley Pedestrian Crash did not See Victim
According to police, a silver Ford Explorer was making a lefthand turn from Jess Ranch Parkway onto Town Center Drive when the driver struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The driver, 47-year-old Shelly Tucker, did not see the pedestrian. Police say she was unable to avoid hitting him with her vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to Desert Valley Hospital. From there, he was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. He died from his injuries sometime later.
Fatal Pedestrian Crash Remains Under Investigation
The Apple Valley pedestrian crash shut down all directions of Jess Ranch Parkway to Town Center Drive, as well as Apple Valley Road. The road closures lasted until about 8 p.m. Tuesday, as authorities investigated.
