One person died in a Barstow rollover crash on Highway 247 last June. The crash happened on the highway north of Stoddard Wells Road. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling south on Highway 247 when she turned left and crossed into the northbound lane. The car then hit the raised dirt embankment on the east shoulder and flipped over.
The 24-year-old woman and a dog were both trapped in the vehicle. Authorities arrived to extricate them, but the woman passed away from her injuries at the scene. Animal Control attended to the dog.
Barstow Rollover Crash Closes Stretch of Highway
Authorities closed Highway 247 in both directions north of Stoddard Wells Road through Rimrock Road for a few hours to investigate. It opened back up by mid-afternoon.
The CHP said the driver was wearing a seatbelt and they do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. Barstow CHP continue to investigate the Barstow rollover crash.
