A Hinkley woman died after being ejected from her motorcycle Friday. Police say 28-year-old Ashley Fortenberry, also known as Nicole Earls, was riding her motorcycle west on Santa Fe Avenue near Summerset Road when she lost control. The motorcycle then traveled onto the right shoulder, ejecting Fortenberry.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene around 10:36 a.m. They transported her to Barstow Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died at 2:10 p.m.
Fortenberry, a teacher at Barstow Junior High School, leaves behind two children, ages 5 and 6. As a result of the sudden loss of Fortenberry, Barstow Unified School District provided counselors Tuesday and Wednesday for staff and students.
