Mercedes Benz Recalled Over Unique Problem
When we think about auto recalls, it’s a fair statement to make that most of us don’t automatically think of hubcaps. That being said, famed automaker Mercedes-Benz has recently announced that they will be recalling a selection of AMG GT 53 and GT 63 models made between 2019-2020 due to loose wheel hubcaps.
According to the announcement posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the hubcaps can detach during driving, creating a road hazard that may ultimately threaten other drivers on the road. Currently, the recall only affects 1,142 vehicles, and Mercedes-Benz USA has already announced that they will be notifying customers affected by it.
In a year where recalls have been plentiful, it may initially seem somewhat anticlimactic to hear about this particular notice. That being said, any road hazard should always be considered a serious issue, and it is refreshing to see an automobile company adopt such a strong position.
