A mother and daughter were seriously injured in a rollover crash in Phelan Friday morning. The accident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Sheep Creek Road near Goss Road.
A Ford Explorer headed north on Sheep Creek Road crossed the yellow lines and struck an oncoming Jeep Renegade just south of Rancho Road. The Ford driver then lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Daughter was Not in a Car Seat
The Ford driver was thrown from her vehicle and was seriously injured. Her 5-year-old daughter also suffered major injuries in the crash. Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt, and her daughter was not restrained in a car seat.
Emergency responders transported both victims to Loma Linda University Medical Center for major injuries. The Jeep driver did not suffer injuries.
The Victorville California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the crash. They have not ruled out alcohol as a potential factor in the accident.
“Seat belts and car seats save lives. There’s simply no reason not to use these devices every time you get in the car,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
