Recently, international automobile manufacturer Nissan announced that they would be recalling over 250,000 of their popular Pathfinder SUVs due to an issue involving brake lights. According to the data provided by Nissan, brake lights in Pathfinders manufactured between 2013-2015 may become stuck in the “on” position, potentially resulting in auto collisions due to ensuing confusion.
In addition to the potential confusion that could result for other drivers, Nissan has also stated that these brake light problems may cause intereference with the brake-shift interlock and possibly situations where the engine could start without actively depressing the interior brake pedal. It is also interesting to note that these same vehicles produced between 2013 and 2014 have already once been recalled in 2016 for the identical issue.
According to Nissan, recall letters will be sent to drivers owning the affected vehicles beginning on March 1st. If you are interested in learning if your vehicle is affected before this notification date, you can do so by visiting the official NHTSA website.
