Pedestrian Dies After Crash in Indio

A pedestrian died after being struck at an intersection in Indio Thursday. The fatal accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Avenue 48 and Madison Street. The name of the victim has not yet been released, and the accident remains under investigation.

Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a hospital after the crash. The victim passed away shortly after.

Police say the driver who struck the pedestrian was cooperating with authorities, and they do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The westbound lanes of Avenue 48 were closed for some time after the crash while police assessed the scene.
