Is Your Phone Part of Worldwide Samsung Recall?

More than 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphones are included in a Samsung recall. The batteries in the smartphones are defective, and there have been 35 reported incidents of the batteries catching fire. Sales of the devices have halted worldwide, and those who have purchased the Note 7 are eligible for the recall.

According to several Note 7 users, the device can catch fire while plugged into a charger. Samsung’s investigation revealed an issue with the phone’s battery cell. While the issue allegedly only affects less than 0.1% of devices on the market, the retailer will be recalling all the devices, as the problem apparently can’t be fixed by changing the battery.

Owners are able to exchange their recalled devices for a brand new Note 7 equipped with a safe battery. They can also exchange the device for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge with a refund for the price difference. Owners should return their Note 7 devices to the store where they purchased them or call 1-800-SAMSUNG.

“Owners of Note 7 smartphones should take advantage of the Samsung recall as soon as possible, on the off chance their device is one that could catch fire,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
