Your Questions Answered: Car Accident Photos

As part of our “Your Questions Answered” series, we decided to take a look at one of the most important questions  asked by individuals who have just been in a car accident. Choosing whether or not to take photos after an accident can make a huge difference in negotiations and even trial proceedings. Take a look below for more information!@

Question:

Is there any need for me to take pictures of anything after I’ve been in a car accident?

Answer:

Yes, taking pictures after a car accident is very helpful.  Your attorney will use these photos to help tell your story.  Photos assist in bringing your story to life and are a powerful tool in negotiations and trial.

You should take photos of your property damage, the property damage of the other driver(s), the roadway where the car accident occurred, any tire marks or debris in the roadway, and anything else that helps depict the circumstances of the collision.  With respect to your injuries, you should take photos of any cuts, scrapes, and/or bruising.  You should continue to take photos as the cuts and bruises progress.  Should any scarring occur, you should take photos of that too.  Lastly, you should take photos of the recovery process, particularly take photos of any assistive devices your doctors have recommended or provided, of a physical therapy session, and/or of any surgery related treatment.
