Police arrested the drunken hit-and-run suspect accused of injuring two men in his own vehicle Tuesday night. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of a red Chevrolet SUV traveling south on Cypress Avenue in Victorville cut off a gray Honda going east on Nisqualli Road. The Honda driver then struck the SUV, causing it to roll over.
The Honda driver says multiple occupants in the SUV took off on foot. The SUV driver also fled in the vehicle. Witnesses say the men dumped alcohol out of the vehicle before they took off.
Drunken Hit-and-Run Suspect Injures his own Passengers
Sheriff’s officials located the SUV at the intersection of Riviera Court and Riviera Drive not long after the crash. They detained the two men found in the vehicle. Both men suffered serious injuries during the drunken hit-and-run and were hospitalized.
After receiving a call from a citizen who reported the men came to their residence asking for water, authorities found the driver nearby. The driver, 23-year-old Lamont Diondre Brandon, has been charged with driving under the influence causing bodily injury.
“Drunk driving is foolish, and the consequences often include hurting others. In this case, it appears the driver ended up hurting his own friends,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
