1 Hospitalized After Victorville Bike Crash

A man is in the hospital following a bike crash in Victorville Thursday morning. The collision occurred at the intersection of Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive around 8:35 a.m.

According to witnesses, a Kia Rio heading north on Amargosa was attempting to turn right onto Mojave when it collided with a Kawasaki motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old who was on the way to his first day of work, was taken to the hospital. According to his mother who was on scene, he suffered road rash but no major injuries.

The Kia driver was not hurt in the crash. Police are still investigating the cause of the motorcycle crash.

There were more than 5,000 people motorcycle fatalities in 2015, a 10% rise from the previous year, making it the deadliest year for motorcyclists since 2008. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), wearing a helmet reduces the risk of death for motorcyclists by 37% and injury by 69%.

“Drivers need to be vigilant when it comes to the safety of motorcyclists. Always check twice for motorcyclists before making a turn and never assume the coast is clear,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
