Ohio State Suspends Fraternities After Hazing Incidents

Last month, Ohio State University suspended activities of nearly all of its fraternities due to hazing investigations. Eleven of the university’s 37 fraternities are under investigation for violating the student code of conduct. Most of these cases revolve around hazing and/or alcohol.

As a result of the investigations, Ohio State’s director of Greek life, Ryan Lovell, has suspended all fraternity activities, including recruitment and social activities. Ohio State is one of the largest universities in the U.S., with more than 45,000 undergrad students.

Death at Florida State University

Earlier last month, Florida State University indefinitely suspended all fraternities and sororities, after a fraternity pledge died at a party. According to police, 20-year-old Andrew Coffey was found unresponsive one morning after attending a frat party the night before.

“It’s time for administrators to crack down on these dangerous hazing activities at colleges,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
