Toyota has issued a recall of 44,121 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks for a faulty brake part. The recall includes 2018 and 2019 model year Tacomas.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the seal on a brake master cylinder can become damaged, which may cause brake fluid to leak. This can cause a sudden loss of braking performance, making it more difficult for the driver to come to a complete stop.
Toyota has received reports of drivers experiencing the brake pedal going all the way to the truck’s floor. However, the automaker has not reported any crashes related to the braking issue.
Owners should have been notified of the recall by the automaker. You can always check safercar.gov to see if your vehicle currently has an open recall.
