Apple Valley Police Pursuit Suspect Arrested
Apple Valley Police Pursuit Suspect Arrested

In December, authorities arrested a police pursuit suspect who fled a traffic stop and rammed a police vehicle in Apple Valley. Deputies attempted to stop 59-year-old Michael Lane Shaw after he did a burnout in a black Ford Mustang around 8:50 p.m. on December 15, but he fled.

The driver led authorities on a short pursuit before he wound up on a dead-end street in a neighborhood. Shaw then turned around and rammed a police vehicle and continued out of the neighborhood.

Police Pursuit Suspect Faces Assault Charges

Police then cornered Shaw near Carlisle Road and Atoka Road. He was taken to the hospital for unknown injuries. Police arrested him at 11:24 p.m. The police pursuit suspect faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge for driving without a license, which he failed to appear for in court last month.

“The number of police pursuits that have occurred in the High Desert this past year is alarming, considering that police chases kill about 332 people a year. We hope this isn’t a trend that continues,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
