A woman was seriously injured in a Desert Hot Springs big rig collision on Dillon Road Thursday. The truck accident occurred in the northbound lane, south of Berdoo Canyon Road, around 12:15 p.m.
Police say 21-year-old Daliliah Castillo-Herrera was traveling north in a Nissan Versa when her vehicle struck a trailer being hauled by a big rig. The driver of the big rig made a left turn out of a driveway on east Dillon Road. The rear trailer then ended up in the path of the Nissan, prompting the crash.
Herrera suffered major injuries in the big rig crash. Emergency personnel transported her to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. The big rig driver, 25-year-old Steven Rodriguez of Indio, was not hurt.
Desert Hot Springs Big Rig Collision Shuts Down Dillon Road
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) shut down Dillon Road in both directions for about an hour following the Desert Hot Springs big rig collision. The investigation is ongoing.
“Our thoughts are with the victim as she recovers from her injuries. Unfortunately, these big rig crashes are far too common in the Coachella Valley, and motorists driving passenger vehicles are most often the victims,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
