10-Year-Old Boy Killed in Minivan Rollover Crash

A 10-year-old boy was killed in a minivan crash on I-10 Wednesday morning. The fatal crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. near Summit Road in Chiriaco Summit. Police say a Dodge Grand Caravan carrying eight passengers was heading east when the driver lost control. The vehicle then rolled over, ejecting four of the passengers.

Authorities Identify 10-Year-Old Boy

The 10-year-old boy, Delawrence Grant III, died at the scene. The other three ejected occupants—one 44-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy—suffered major injuries. Another two people sustained minor injuries in the crash. The other two were uninjured.

Police say the four people ejected from the minivan were not wearing seat belts. Moreover, the vehicle is only designed to carry seven occupants. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

“We’re heartbroken for the family who has lost this young boy. Seat belts save lives—please ensure everyone in your vehicle is buckled up at all times,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
