2 DUI Suspects Arrested for Thermal Crashes

Police arrested two DUI suspects at the end of last year in Thermal after causing two separate crashes. Around 2:20 a.m., the driver of a black Hummer H2 was traveling north on Highway 86 when he drifted out of his lane and struck a northbound white GMC truck. The impact caused the truck to roll over. The vehicle’s two occupants suffered minor injuries.

The GMC was hauling hay when the crash occurred. Bales of hay spilled onto the highway, blocking northbound traffic. All lanes reopened by 4:30 a.m. Police arrested the Hummer driver, 35-year-old Roberto Gonzalez, on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked at the Riverside County Jail.

The second DUI suspect was driving a silver Honda Accord near the intersection of Highway 86 and Avenue 50 when she crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The crash caused the Jeep to catch on fire. Motorists stopped to help put out the fire. The Jeep driver was then taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Police arrested the Honda driver, 20-year-old Daniela Montano,  on suspicion of DUI. He was also booked at the Riverside County Jail.

“With all the partying and celebrating going on during the holidays, there tend to be more people on the road who are under the influence. Always be cautious when you drive, especially late into the night, and never get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
