2 Pedestrians Killed in Coachella Valley Friday

Two pedestrians were struck and killed in the Coachella Valley within a few hours of one another Friday night.

The first pedestrian was fatally struck in Palm Springs around 6:30 p.m. The pedestrian was  walking along N. Indian Canyon, north of 19th Avenue, when the crash occurred. Police say the pedestrian died at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Northbound and southbound lanes of N. Indian Canyon were closed for nearly four hours between 18th Avenue and 19th Avenue.

Another pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday in Desert Hot Springs. The fatal collision occurred near Palm Drive and Hacienda Avenue around 9:15 pm. Police say the pedestrian died at the scene before first responders arrived. The pedestrian has been identified as 58-year-old Anthony Wells of Desert Hot Springs.
