Three pedestrians were injured Friday night after the downtown Riverside Festival of Lights. A 59-year-old woman, 61-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were walking from the festival to their vehicle around 6:53 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle. The collision happened at the intersection of Lime Street and Fifth Street.
The three injured pedestrians were taken to the hospital for moderate injuries, which included broken bones and a head injury.
The driver stopped and stayed on scene to cooperate with the investigation. The intersection where the crash occurred does not have a crosswalk or any traffic signs. Police continue to investigate the accident.
“Safety might not be the first thing on your mind when walking to your vehicle from an event, but it’s important to stay alert and continue to practice safe pedestrian habits to avoid injury. Likewise, drivers leaving a crowded parking lot following a busy event need to be aware of those walking to their destinations and be able to quickly stop if someone steps out in front of them,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
