Four people were injured, two seriously, in two I-10 rollover crashes over the weekend. Both were single-vehicle crashes and both occurred near Desert Center. This happened almost exactly one month after two other collisions injured 9 people in Desert Center.
The first accident occurred around 2:25 p.m. on Friday on westbound I-10. One person was airlifted with major injuries after an RV rolled over near Eagle Mountain Road. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the RV flipped over on the right shoulder for unknown reasons.
It is unclear whether anyone else was in the vehicle at the time, but no other injuries were reported. The freeway was shut down for an hour and a half for the helicopter to land and the scene to be cleared. All lanes were reopened at 4 p.m.
Another single-vehicle rollover crash occurred Sunday night on eastbound I-10 near Desert Center. The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Milepost 129. Two victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by ground ambulances. A third victim was airlifted with major injuries.
“This stretch of I-10 has been the site of numerous crashes in recent months. Drivers, please be cautious and alert when traveling desert freeways. It’s easy to get drowsy or distracted on these long stretches of roadway out in the open desert,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
