A 5-year-old girl suffered critical injuries in a major accident in Hesperia Thursday. The crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. at the intersection of Escondido Avenue and Hollister Street.

Police say the driver of a white Ford Focus was traveling south on Escondido Avenue when a gray Scion TC pulled out in front of her. The Ford driver had no time to react and crashed into the Scion on the driver’s side.

A 5-year-old girl riding in the Scion was seriously injured. Paramedics performed CPR on the child, then transported her to the hospital. From there she was stabilized and transferred to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

3 Others Also Injured in Crash

The Scion driver and a 2-year-old boy in her vehicle were also injured in the crash. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford also complained of pain. They were all taken to Desert Valley Hospital for treatment.

Police say all the children in the vehicle were reportedly secured in car seats when the crash occurred.

Police closed down Escondido Avenue from Main Street to Muscatel Street for several hours. The Hesperia Sheriff’s Station Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.

“We’re praying that this young girl’s recovery,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
