A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured in a pedestrian crash in Victorville last Wednesday night. The child was crossing Village Drive at Eto Camino Road with her uncle when she was hit by a Nissan Frontier.

The driver was heading north on Village Drive just after 8 a.m. when he struck the 5-year-old. He reportedly saw the pedestrians and swerved to avoid hitting them. The child was airlifted to Loma Linda Trauma Center for a broken leg. The girl’s uncle and the driver were not hurt in the accident.

The pedestrian crash shut down Village Drive in both directions between Tawney Ridge Lane and Puesta Del Sol Drive while police investigated. The roadway where the victim and her uncle were crossing is an unmarked intersection.

It can be difficult to navigate around pedestrians, especially on dark roads. Unmarked intersections can amplify the problem as well. Take a look at our 7 tips for safely driving around pedestrians.

“We are wishing this little girl a speedy recovery from her injuries. If the intersection is found to be a safety issue, we hope officials will look into ways to prevent future incidents,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
